ICS-400

Imaging Solutions

ICS-400, an image computer subsystem based on parallel image arrayprocess or technology, integrates image acquisition and displaycapability (gray-tone, pseudo-color, and true color) with a parallelarchitecture utilizing VLSI array processors. ICS technology isavailable as a single-board, VME-compatible, plug-in card that transformsmembers of the SPARC workstation system family into image computerworkstations. ICS-400 is a coprocessor controlled over the VMEbus by theSPARC CPU.The heart of ICS-400 is a proprietary parallel array processor, includingthe Multiple Instruction Multiple Data (MIMD) processor consisting offour signal processing nodes. The nodes are tightly coupled to imagememory (2, 4, and 8 MB), and a 1 MB scratch memory utilizing proprietarysemi-custom gate arrays and high-speed processing caches. The processingnodes consist of Analog Devices' ADSP 2100 single-chip array processors, dual 32K x 16-bit processing caches and 32K x 24-bit code/data memory.Included is a C-callable image processing subroutine library with morethan 200 routines.
